Code of Conduct

South Wales GeoTours aligns itself with the Health and Safety policies established by The Geological Society of London. Although risk to individuals cannot be totally excluded from the activities of the business, all efforts have been made to do so. This has involved the completion of a thorough Risk Assessment of each of the localities visited with updates made periodically throughout the field season.

Before the commencement of each field excursion a Toolbox Talk will be made to highlight potential risks to participants to be encountered on the day. The leader has benefitted from decades embedded in the strict HSE culture of Oil & Gas Majors.

Attendees must not walk up to the base of the cliffs; much of the rock forming the cliffs is unstable and loose and can potentially fall abruptly and without warning. People have been killed by falling boulders in recent times.

The Leader of the excursion Kevin has obtained WERS2 certification in the use of First Aid for the outdoor environment. A First Aid Kit is carried at all times. Contact details for all emergency services is included in the Risk Assessment sheets and is stored in the Leaders phone.

It is recommended to familiarise yourself with The Geologists Association Fieldwork Code of Conduct prior to attending a field trip.
